ISK's 8th grade physical science students have been studying simple machines such as pulleys, inclined planes and levers. The class was given the task to design and construct a Rube Goldberg device. In just 4 class periods plus several additional hours over lunch and recess, they built this amazing machine that spanned 2 classrooms and contained 20 simple machines. The theme was to lead the duck to water. Each pair of students were responsible for designing two machines but the difficult part was to connect each section together so there was one complete machine. They worked well together and it took a lot of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity to pull this off! A special thanks to Ms. Cindy Powell for putting this all together!
