The International School of Kraków is a non-profit private institution governed by a 9 member Board of Trustees. The Board is made up of two members appointed by the U.S. Consul in Kraków, 3 members appointed by the board itself, and 4 members elected from among our parent population — the board is balanced to represent the nationalities in our school and draw on the strengths and commitment of our community.

Working closely with the Director, the Board ensures that the school remains true to its mission and vision and that ISK will remain a strong institution for generations to come.

Responsibilities

The Board of Trustees is responsible for developing and supporting ISK’s Mission, Vision and purpose, as well as setting ISK School Policies, overseeing the Creation and Execution of School Improvement Plans, ensuring the financial health of the school, and defining the long term outlook for ISK.  Standing and Ad Hoc Board committees work closely with the Director in supporting the Board in its work by investigating policy and improvement recommendations made by the Board and by providing information and recommendations to the Board during its monthly meetings following on their deliberations.  The Board meets monthly to consider committee recommendations, discuss the school’s progress, monitor performance, plan for the future, and support the school’s efforts in ensuring a world class educational program.

The School Director is an ex officio member of the Board, appointed by the Board to develop and oversee the implementation of ISK’s Mission, Vision and Policies, as well as to manage the annual operating budget, to hire staff, to lead the school in the development and implementation of the educational programs, to lead school improvement efforts,  and to supervise instruction and the general operation of the school. The Director is supported in this task by professional teaching and administrative staff.
